2 Farmers Killed In Benue Ambush

Two farmers, identified as Amah Terseer and Tony Emberga, have been reportedly killed in an ambush by suspected armed herdsmen at Abaji community, Kpav Council Ward, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Benue State.

A source in the area who spoke to our correspondent on the phone disclosed that the victims were attacked by the marauders while on the way back from a neighbouring community where they attended a traditional wedding ceremony.

“We heard a shot, and after a while, we rushed to the area and we saw these two young men’s lifeless bodies on the ground, now that the security personnel are after the herders and bandits, they are now creeping in the bushes, killing people on their farms or on the road, after which they will flee back to their hideouts.

“The victims were shot and killed on the spot without provocation by the marauders. They were discovered by some community members who rushed to the scene after hearing the sounds of gunshots, and after a while, went to check what had happened ”

The victims were rushed to General Hospital, Katsina-Ala, but confirmed dead on arrival, their corpses were deposited in the hospital morgue”

Our correspondent reports that the killing came a week after the killing of over 16 security personnel at the Agu Centre in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.

When contacted on the phone, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Udeme Edet said, “Let me check and get back.” She did not pick up or return her calls.
