Financial advisor and educator, Kalu Aja, has suggested that the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, is holding the country to ransom.
The statement comes as the Department of State Services, DSS, has again waded into the labour dispute between the Dangote Refinery and NUPENG in an attempt to prevent the imminent breakdown of the truce earlier signed by both parties.
DAILY POST reported that Dangote and NUPENG had signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, at the DSS Headquarters, Abuja, granting workers the freedom to join any union of their choice without interference.
However, in a post on X on Saturday, Aja said the union is threatening to embark on strike because Dangote Group declined to join it.
He argued that the action was proof of the union’s tendency to put Nigerians under pressure.
He wrote: “Think about this
“A union NUPENG is on strike because a private company Dangote has refused to join their private union
“When I say NUPENG holds Nigerians to ransom, this is my evidence.”
