A team of journalists in Bauchi State, led by the commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Shehu Usman, has inspected ongoing development projects in Kirfi local government area, including the erosion control project in Badara community.
The erosion control initiative, executed by the state government in collaboration with the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) is aimed at tackling the menace of gully erosion while safeguarding farmlands, homes, and community assets.
Speaking during the inspection, Commissioner Usman said the project reflects Governor Bala Mohammed’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges that threaten rural livelihoods.
He noted that the media tour was organised to showcase the administration’s achievements and promote transparency and accountability in governance.
The delegation also visited other projects, including the comprehensive renovation of Badara Model Primary Health Care Centre under the 2024 Impact Project, a World Bank – assisted programme, and the rehabilitation of the 19-kilometre Alkaleri-Kirfi road awarded by the state government.
During the tour, the journalists paid a courtesy call on the chairman of Kirfi local government, Abdulkadir Umar Dewu, who commended Governor Bala for executing people-focused initiatives that have transformed several communities in the area.
Dewu highlighted interventions in health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure as clear evidence of the administration’s resolve to uplift living standards and drive grassroots development across Kirfi and beyond.
