Gunmen Abduct Pastor’s Wife, Church Member In Nasarawa

The wife of Samuel Nasamu, the pastor of the Word of God Church, Agyaragu in Obi local government area of Nasarawa State, Mrs. Patience Nasamu, has been kidnapped.

Also abducted along with Mrs. Nasamu was a female member of the church who came visiting.

However, the assailants left the pastor’s three-month-old baby behind in the incident which has thrown the entire town into confusion.

Gunmen were said to have stormed the pastor’s residence at about 8:15 pm, on Sunday, forcing the wife to let them in by firing sporadically into the air.

Pastor Nasamu who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said the attackers attempted to break into the residence by smashing the windows and doors with a hammer, but could not get past the protectors.

He said the incident happened immediately after the church service when he stepped out to pray for a sick church member.

The cleric added that his wife could hardly calm herself to explain what was going on when she managed to call.

“I had just stepped out to pray for a sick member when my wife called me. All I could hear was her praying; she couldn’t even explain what was happening. By the time I rushed back, both she and our visitor had been abducted, leaving our baby behind,” he narrated.

According to him, operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command have visited the scene to assess the situation.

He, however, said the abductors have not reached out to family members to demand for ransom.
