The Edo State Police Command says its deployment of drones has yielded results with the arrest of 11 suspects believed to be members of an organized kidnapping syndicate.
ASP Eno Ikoedem, the Command’s image maker, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Benin City.
Ikoedem said the suspects were arrested by operatives of Ubiaja Divisional Headquarters in Esan South-East Local Government Area of the State.
She said the Divisional Police Officer, Ubiaja, personally led the coordinated bush-combing operation around Akwocha Camp and adjoining forest corridors, in collaboration with the Nigerian Military and the Edo State Security Corps, ESSC.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command explained that operatives stormed a concealed forest enclave identified by the drone squadron through intelligence generated from air surveillance as a suspected kidnapping and logistics base.
Ikoedem added that the suspects were arrested with 24 dane guns, 17 cutlasses, three battle axes, gun powder, torchlights, mobile phones, solar panels, assorted charms, one Daylong motorcycle, the sum of N209,700 cash among others.
