Ooni Honoura Oluremi Tinubu with Golden Statue

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye, Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II unveiled a golden statue to honour the first lady, Oluremi Tinubu on Thursday.

The unveiling was part of the activities to celebrate the 50th birthday anniversary of the Monarch. He commissioned a 2.7km road and a hostel which was named after the first lady.

According to the Monarch,  “A golden statue is erected to immortalise her virtuous personality and to showcase the strength of a teacher, mother, and wife at the very heart of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.”

“The hostel and pavilion, the largest in the university’s history, stand as a testament to her commitment to creating spaces for learning, development, and empowerment for all.”

Also, the first lady announced a donation of 1 billion naira for the “horticultural landscape” of the university.

In her words, “The campus used to be beautiful when I was here. Ife is crying out for help. It used to be a beautiful campus, and the beauty must be restored”
