Tinubu Celebrates Oba of Benin on 71st Birthday and Eight Years on the Throne

President Bola Tinubu has extended warm wishes to the Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, in celebration of his 71st birthday on October 20, which also marks his eighth year as the revered monarch of the Benin Kingdom.

In a statement released by his Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended Oba Ewuare II for fostering peace, understanding, and progress since his coronation as the 40th Oba of Benin in 2016. Tinubu highlighted the monarch’s distinguished diplomatic career, which included ambassadorial roles in Angola, Sweden, Italy, and other countries, noting that these experiences have shaped his wise and graceful leadership.

The President praised Oba Ewuare’s dedication to preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Benin Kingdom, especially his efforts to repatriate priceless historical artefacts that embody the kingdom’s legacy and identity. Tinubu emphasized that this cultural preservation is a source of pride for the Benin people and strengthens their connection to their past.

Additionally, the President lauded the Oba’s guidance to leaders in both the private and public sectors, recognizing his advocacy for participatory democracy and civic responsibility as an inspiration for a better future.

Concluding his message, President Tinubu offered prayers for the continued prosperity of the Benin Kingdom under Oba Ewuare II’s wise leadership, wishing the monarch and his family good health and happiness.
