Senate Confirms New Ministers

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the substantive Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, alongside other ministerial nominees.

The confirmed ministers include Dr. Jumoke Oduwole (Minister of Industry, Trade and Development), Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda (Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction), Muhammadu Dingyadi (Minister of Labour and Employment), Idi Muktar Maiha (Minister of Livestock Development), Yusuf Ata (Minister of State for Housing), and Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad (Minister of State for Education).

The Senate took about five hours to screen the nominees before confirming them. Earlier, the Senate leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, moved a motion to suspend the Senate’s rules and allow the Special Adviser to the President on Senate matters, Basheer Lado, to present the nominees in the plenary.

This followed the Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio, reading President Bola Tinubu’s letter nominating the new ministers last Thursday.”
