AFCON 2025: Chelle speaks on getting sacked after Super Eagles lose to Morocco

The head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has hinted he could leave the role after the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Chelle was speaking after Nigeria lost 4-2 to Morocco in the semi-final on Wednesday night.

There has been speculations about the 48-year-old’s future with the Eagles even before the AFCON kicked off.

When asked about it, Chelle insisted his focus was on the third-place playoff against Egypt on Saturday.

“For now, I am still the coach of the Super Eagles,” Chelle said.

“I have a game against Egypt and I want to win.”

Chelle was also asked about playing Raphael Onyedika in the place of suspended captain Wilfred Ndidi.

He replied: “This is not a question about one player, it’s about the group.”
