Five former African Player of the Year winners are set to take the centre stage in the AFCON last-4 fixtures.
They are Senegal’s Sadio Mane, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Nigeria duo Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.
Hakimi is the newly crowned African Player of the Year and has provided one assist from right-back, after recently returning from a long-term injury.
Lookman is the 2024 African Player of the Year and has contributed three goals and four assists for Nigeria so far in the ongoing AFCON.
Osimhen is the 2023 African Player of the Year and has registered four goals and two assists for the Super Eagles.
Mane has won both the 2019 and 2022 African Player of the Year. The Al-Nassr forward has one goal and three assists to his name in the AFCON.
Salah, meanwhile, won the African Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018. The Liverpool winger has provided four goals and one assist for Egypt in the AFCON in Morocco.
DAILY POST reports that the AFCON semi-final will commence on Wednesday evening.
Senegal will face Egypt while Morocco will clash with Nigeria later tonight.
Only the winners of both fixtures will progress to the AFCON final, taking place this weekend.
