Tottenham are moving closer to a permanent transfer deal for Portugal international midfielder Joao Palhinha in the January transfer window from Bayern Munich after being assured by his parent club that a deal could be concluded in the winter transfer window. Spurs have agreed a loan move until the end of the season in a deal worth 1.5 million euros.

Noni Madueke could be out for an extended period of time after being hauled off at half time in the 1-1 draw with Man City at the Emirates Stadium yesterday. The England international winger starred before his substitution, and after feeling some discomfort in his knee manager Mikel Arteta opted to take Madueke off at the half way point.

Tottenham and Chelsea are both competing to sign Swiss international attacking midfielder Ruben Vargas from Sevilla, with Spurs ready to pay andamp;pound;27.5 million in the January transfer window, and Chelsea considering a part-exchange deal with the La Liga outfit that could include Benoit Badiashile. It is understood though that Spurs are in pole position to secure the 27-year-old’s signature.

Tottenham attacking midfielder Xavi Simons had long been linked with a transfer to Chelsea, but instead opted for a move to North London, departing RB Leipzig in a deal worth around 67 million euros. The Dutchman is seen as one of Europe’s best prospects but the midfielder could have gone elsewhere as Chelsea were long expected to sign Simons.

Arsenal are to make a bid for Oihan Sancet in the January transfer window, as the Spanish 25-year-old, currently with Athletic Bilbao, seeks a new challenge after ten years with his current club. Sancet has appeared four times for Spain’s national team, scoring one goal, and it is understood that Mikel Arteta is a huge fan of the Pamplona-born midfielder.
