The Governor of Edo state, Monday Okpebholo has approved the recruitment of 500 teachers by the State Basic Education Board.
Dr. Emmanuel Iyamu, the newly appointed Commissioner for Education, made an announcement on Wednesday in Benin as he assumed office.
Dr. Emmanuel Iyamu was officially sworn in as Commissioner by Edo State Governor, on Monday, after being confirmed by the state’s House of Assembly.
The commissioner mentioned that the recruitment is meant to fill the numerous vacancies in public schools.
According to him,“Government is committed to ensuring that all public schools in Edo are adequately staffed by qualified teachers.
“The era of having two or three teachers in a school is gone and I am calling on qualified Nigerians to apply.”
