FIFA Club World Cup: Super Eagles legend John Obi Mikel teams up with Ronaldo

Super Eagles legend John Obi Mikel will link up with Brazilian World Cup winner Ronaldo when the FIFA Club World Cup kicks off in the United States this weekend.

Mikel and Ronaldo to put on a show for DAZN

As per Daily Mail, Mikel and Ronaldo are part of the DAZN squad that will provide extensive analysis for all the games.

DAZN, who have the global rights to air the Club World Cup, announced Mikel and Ronaldo alongside other analysts like Newcastle’s Callum Wilson and Germany’s World Cup winner Sami Khedira.

These four will provide analysis for all the games, while the likes of Andros Townsend and Brad Friedel will be on co-commentary duty.

Mikel’s post-football career success

This latest announcement is another big win for Mikel, who has stayed in the football media space following his retirement.

The former Super Eagles star already has his podcast, The Obi One Podcast, and has interviewed several star-studded football personalities, including Jose Mourinho, Yaya Toure, Joe Cole, Victor Osimhen, Dries Mertens, Usain Bolt, Carlo Ancelotti, and many others.

The DAZN job is not Mikel’s first foray into football analysis, as he also regularly appears on Bein Sport to provide his professional opinion on the UEFA Champions League and Premier League matches.

The former Chelsea star will now aim to do the same for DAZN when the FIFA Club World Cup kicks off on June 14.

The first match of the newly expanded competition will see Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami take on Egyptian giants Al-Ahly. However, it remains to be seen if Mikel will be on analyst duty for the game.

Mikel will likely be on duty when Chelsea open their campaign against Los Angeles FC on June 16.
