Ekinrin-Adde, Kogi State — Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has lauded the Ekinrin-Adde community in Ijumu Local Government Area for launching a landmark N600 million Infrastructural Development Fund aimed at accelerating the growth and transformation of the community.
Governor Ododo, represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, made the commendation on Saturday during the 2025 edition of the Ekinrin-Adde Day celebration.
In a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Mr. Unubi Emmanuel, Governor Ododo described the community’s initiative as a bold and commendable step towards sustainable development.
“I’m proud to see the Ekinrin-Adde community taking proactive steps towards improving infrastructure and fostering sustainable development,” the Governor said. “This fundraising drive is a testament to the dedication and commitment of the community to positively impact the lives of its people.”
He further emphasized the pivotal role of infrastructure in societal development. “Infrastructure is the backbone of any developing community. Investing in it is crucial for ensuring a better quality of life for everyone,” he noted.
Governor Ododo pledged the full support of the state government for the initiative and called for stronger community-government collaboration in building resilient and progressive communities.
While addressing security issues, the Governor also commended Kogi’s security operatives for their recent breakthroughs, including the arrest of 26 suspected kidnappers and their collaborators. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to making Kogi a crime-free state.
“We are focused and determined to ensure Kogi is safe. Criminals must understand that Kogi is not, and will never be, a safe haven for them,” he said, while urging citizens to support security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities.
Earlier, Mr. Babajide Kolade Otitoju, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, stated that the event was organized to celebrate the unity and cultural richness of the Ekinrin-Adde people and to raise funds for essential infrastructure projects in the community.
He acknowledged the contributions of the community to peace and progress in Okunland and Kogi State as a whole.
The event attracted notable dignitaries including Senator Sunday Karimi (Kogi West), Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke (Ikeja Federal Constituency), Hon. Usman Bello Kumo (Chief Whip of the House of Representatives), Dr. (Mrs.) Folashade Arike Ayoade (Secretary to the Kogi State Government), Members of the State House of Assembly, Commissioners, and top government officials.
The celebration showcased the cultural heritage of the Ekinrin-Adde people and marked a defining moment in community-driven development efforts in the state.
