Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has charged the newly appointed officials into his government to deliver tangible results, uphold integrity, commitment, and responsibility in the discharge of their duties.
The governor who gave the charge during the weekend while inaugurating them, said the boards, bodies, and commissions entrusted to the appointees were not created for ceremonial purposes but to serve as instruments of meaningful change capable of improving the lives of citizens across the state.
He stressed that development commissions must actively contribute to peacebuilding, food security, and economic growth in all sectors.
The governor urged the appointees to collaborate closely with local communities, traditional institutions, farmers, and security agencies to ensure that development initiatives promote sustainable growth and prevent conflict.
He emphasized that infrastructure projects must be people-centred, adding that development should be measured by its impact on lives rather than publicity.
He also charged the leadership of the Taraba State University of Tropical Agriculture, Science, Technology and Climate Action to pursue excellence in research and innovation, with a focus on transforming agriculture, strengthening climate resilience, and preparing young people for future challenges.
On public health and environmental sustainability, the governor reiterated the importance of cleanliness and environmental restoration to healthy living.
He recalled remarks made during the President’s visit to the state last year, highlighting the need for inclusiveness, improved sanitation, and the protection of workers’ safety, directing that all workers must be adequately safeguarded at all times.
Kefas further reminded the appointees that public office is a responsibility rather than a privilege, noting that performance would be assessed based on outcomes and solutions, not rhetoric.
He listed justice, fairness, transparency, discipline, and integrity as core values expected of all government officials.
“I did not appoint you to work in isolation. You are to complement one another. Our target is simple: results that the people can see and feel,” Kefas said.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, Danladi T. Baido pledged their loyalty and commitment to the development of Taraba State, assuring that the institutions under their leadership would promote accountable governance, empower citizens, and foster a safe, just, and inclusive society.
