Man in police net for allegedly spraying acid on youth 

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspect in a case of acid attack.

The police said on Thursday that it has commenced investigation into the alleged acid attack on one Walid Kassim Mohammed.

“On the 14/01/2026 the Victim, a 17-year-old youth, ran to the Shagari Police Division Headquarters in distress that while on his way to mosque, he was sprayed with a substance suspected to be acidic by one Idris Hamza, a resident of Shagari, Yola South LGA,” the command said in a press statement released in the early hours of Thursday by police image maker, SP Suleiman Nguroje

Nguroje stated that immediately after the report, the victim was rushed to a hospital where he is currently receiving medical treatment while the suspect was taken into protective custody.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and ensure thorough investigation,” Nguroje stated.

He assured that more details on the matter will be provided as investigation progresses.
