Nigerian singer, Mr. May D, has stirred controversy after claiming that he could have achieved the same level of success as Afrobeat superstar Wizkid if not for his fallout with his former record label, Square Records.
May D made the statement on Thursday during a heated exchange with Wizkid’s fans on X (formerly Twitter). The argument began after May D praised fellow artist Davido in a post, prompting backlash from Wizkid’s supporters.
In his response, May D wrote, “If no be wetin happen between me and Psquare, who be Wiz (Wizkid)? Chai.” He further warned Wizkid’s fans, stating, “Because I spoke about David, Wizkid boys are attacking me. Lmao even Wiz knows I love him, but if y’all come for me, I’ll finish all of you and your oga.”
He added, “Even your Wizkid knows his limits! Don’t fck with me.”
May D’s comments have reignited discussions about his fallout with Square Records, which many believe impacted the trajectory of his music career. The singer, known for hits like “Soundtrack” and “Ile Ijo,” had previously worked closely with the Psquare duo before parting ways under controversial circumstances.
Neither Wizkid nor his team has responded to May D’s remarks as of now.
