Napoli secured a 2-0 victory against Monza on Sunday, climbing to the top of the Serie A table. Goals from Matteo Politano and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia helped Napoli maintain their impressive form under new coach Antonio Conte.
Politano opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, cutting in from the right and calmly finishing past the goalkeeper. Kvaratskhelia doubled Napoli’s lead just 11 minutes later with a powerful strike from close range.
Conte, who took over during the offseason, has revitalized the team after their disappointing 10th-place finish last season. Despite their early success, Conte downplayed title talk, stating the team is still focused on taking it one game at a time.
With 13 points from six matches, Napoli now lead Juventus by one point and are two points ahead of AC Milan, Inter Milan, and surprise contenders Torino.
Meanwhile, Torino suffered their first defeat of the season, losing 3-2 at home to Lazio, while Roma rallied for a 2-1 win over Venezia.
