However, Hon. Wakili noted that the democratic system is facing numerous challenges, including a lack of people’s awareness, electoral malpractices, and the use of thugs during elections. He suggested that introducing a computerized voting system could help tackle these issues and ensure free and fair elections.
The politician also expressed concerns about the economic challenges facing the country, particularly the removal of subsidies and the devaluation of the Naira. He noted that these policies have led to widespread poverty and a decline in the standard of living.
Hon. Wakili praised President Bola Tinubu as a political expert who knows how to maneuver, but criticized his efforts to suppress opposition parties. He emphasized the importance of a strong opposition in ensuring that the government remains accountable to the people.
The politician also condemned the Buhari administration for bankrupting the country and engaging in corrupt practices. He acknowledged that the removal of subsidies was necessary to prevent further economic crisis but noted that it has had a negative impact on the people.
