Tobi Adegboyega, the founder of SPAC Nation church in the UK, has been ordered to be deported back to Nigeria following allegations of a £1.87 million fraud. Despite his claims that deportation would infringe on his human rights, an immigration tribunal ruled in favor of his removal.
Adegboyega’s church was shut down due to financial misconduct and lack of transparency. The pastor allegedly misused church funds and encouraged vulnerable young people to donate money, often taking out large loans or committing benefit fraud.
“Various manifestations of [Mr Adegboyega’s] church have been closed down, by either the Charity Commission or the High Court, because of concerns over its finances and lack of transparency,” the tribunal ruled.
The tribunal also rejected Adegboyega’s argument that deportation would significantly impact his family life, as he is married to a British woman.
