PICTORIAL: GOC Leads Rescue Of Kidnap Victims In Kwara

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division of Nigerian Army and Commander, Sector 3 Operation Fansan Yama, Major General Chinedu Nnebeife, on 9 October, 2025, led operation that led to the rescue of kidnap victims in Kwara State.

Maj.-Gen. Nnebeife led the operation during a visit to the Onidofin of Idofin, Oba Pius Oluwole, following the bandits attack on traders at Olegbede Village, about 12km from Idofin Ayekale where three persons were killed.

A statement by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations 2 Division, Lt.-Col. Polycarp Okoye, said the GOC embarked on the visit following bandits attack close to Idofin in Ayekale Village of Omu – Aran local government area of Kwara State.

Lt.-Col. Okoye said Oba Oluwole attributed the attack on his community to its close proximity to Babasango Forest.

In response, Major General Nnebeife condoled with the royal father and assured him that the Nigerian Army will sustain operations to flush out bandits and other criminal elements from the entire forest.

Earlier, during an operational visit to Patrol Base at Babanla, the GOC and troops of the Base, advanced towards Babasango Forest, where they rescued two kidnapped victims.

The rescued victims were subsequently handed over to Oba Oluwole.
