A suspected notorious serial armed robber, Mu’azu Barga, has been arrested alongside 14 others by the Kano State Police Command during a coordinated anti-thuggery operation in parts of the state.
The arrest, which took place on July 26, 2025, in Sheka, Ja’oji, and Kurna quarters, was carried out by Operation Kukan Kura, a special security initiative launched to curb rising criminal activities across Kano metropolis.
According to a statement by the spokesperson of the Command, SP Haruna Kiyawa, the suspects, aged between 14 and 28, were arrested in possession of four stolen mobile phones.
“The suspects confessed to engaging in criminal activities, including mobile phone robbery and theft,” SP Kiyawa said.
According to the Police, Barga is linked to armed robbery cases and involved in leading a series of violent attacks and rivalry ‘Daba’ fights within Kano Metropolis.
The Kano Command’s spokesperson said all suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eliminating thuggery and maintaining public safety across the State.
