Police in Katsina State have arrested a suspected cross-border drug trafficker and seized 11 cartons of illicit drugs along the Nigeria–Niger Republic border.
According to counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama on Thursday, the suspect, identified as 33-year-old Ibrahim Sa’adu of Kadangwaris village, was intercepted on September 16 around 9:00 a.m. by officers on stop-and-search duty at the Kwangolom checkpoint in Daura.
Sa’adu, who was driving a blue Toyota Carina with registration number DRA 31 AA, was reportedly attempting to cross illegally into Niger Republic when the drugs were discovered.
“On search of his vehicle, 11 cartons of drugs were recovered. The suspect and the exhibits have since been handed over to Mai-Adua Division for further investigation,” a source quoted by Makama revealed.
