The Zamfara State Police Command has arrested a suspected arms supplier, Nasuru Dawan Jiya, allegedly transporting weapons to bandits in the state.

Police spokesman Yazid Abubakar, in a statement on Tuesday, said operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit intercepted a Toyota Corolla on September 15 along Gummi–Sokoto Road.

A search of the vehicle at Gambanda Godabe village, Gummi LGA, led to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, 200 rounds of PKT ammunition, 28 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and four empty AK-47 magazines, concealed in a bag of oranges belonging to the suspect.

During interrogation, Jiya reportedly confessed to conveying the arms to bandits in Gurusu village.
