Security forces foil armed robbery attack on Abuja–Kaduna expressway

Security forces in Niger State have successfully foiled a robbery attempt along the Abuja–Kaduna Expressway near Gauraka village.

According to a post shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Tuesday, the incident occurred on September 7 at around 9:45 p.m., when armed men blocked the highway and tried to rob travellers.

“On sighting the operatives, the suspects, who were driving an unregistered ash-coloured Volkswagen Golf, opened fire sporadically and fled towards the Madalla–Abuja axis,” the post said.

The robbers had earlier punctured the right front tyre of a J5 vehicle loaded with unripe bananas from Ekiti State en route to Na’ibawa Fruits Market in Kano State.

Makama revealed that three empty shells and two live rounds of AK-47 ammunition were recovered at the scene.

No casualties were reported, and traffic on the highway has since returned to normal.

Authorities also confirmed that high-visibility patrols have been intensified along the expressway to prevent similar incidents.
