Sinner Crushes Musetti To Reach US Open Semifinals; Anisimova Upsets Swiatek

World No 1 Jannik Sinner cruised past 10th seed Lorenzo Musetti with a commanding scoreline of 6-1, 6-4, 6-2 to secure his place in the US Open semifinals, marking the first all-Italian men’s quarterfinal in Grand Slam history.

“It was a great performance, very solid. I started the match very well,” Sinner said, who will face Canadian 25th seed Felix Auger-Aliassime next.

On the women’s side, Amanda Anisimova avenged her earlier defeat to Iga Swiatek, overcoming the second-ranked Pole with a score of 6-4, 6-3. “Today is definitely the most meaningful victory I’ve had in my life,” Anisimova expressed, reflecting on her impressive run at the tournament.

Swiatek acknowledged her performance, stating, “I kind of have to let it go and just focus on the next one.”

In other news, Naomi Osaka secured her place in the quarterfinals with a straight-sets victory over Karolina Muchova, marking her deepest run at a Grand Slam since returning to tennis after the birth of her daughter in 2023.
