The Irishman Whiskey Launches In Nigeria, Expands African Presence

With Nigeria emerging as a key gateway for international trade and premium goods in West Africa, The Irishman Whiskey, one of Ireland’s fastest-growing premium brands, has officially launched in Lagos as part of its global expansion strategy.

Crafted in Ireland with centuries-old tradition and modern innovation, The Irishman Whiskey is celebrated for its smooth character and rich flavor, distinguishing it within the global premium whiskey category.

Its entry into Nigeria not only introduces a new choice for discerning consumers but also opens opportunities for distributors, retailers, and hospitality businesses to participate in a growing segment that connects heritage with aspirational lifestyle.

Speaking at the launch, James Kilgannon, Global Brand Ambassador for The Irishman Whiskey, described the move as both strategic and cultural. “Nigeria has always been a priority for us. It is one of Africa’s most dynamic consumer markets, where premium spirits have been gaining ground. The Irishman brings not just the heritage of Irish whiskey, but a quality and character that align with Nigeria’s appetite for authentic premium experiences. We see this as the start of a long-term presence, built on trust with our trade partners and connection with Nigerian consumers.”

Building on this vision, Sudipto Chakraborty, Head of Commercial at Ekulo International Limited, the official distributor of The Irishman in Nigeria, highlighted the trade potential of the partnership.

“This collaboration creates a win-win for both sides. Nigerian consumers gain access to a truly global premium brand, while our trade partners, from retailers to hospitality stakeholders, can expand their portfolios with a whiskey that enjoys strong international recognition and growing demand across key markets.”

The Nigerian launch adds to The Irishman Whiskey’s list of international milestones, following successful expansions across Europe, North America, and Asia, where it has consistently ranked among the most awarded Irish whiskey brands. With Nigeria now in focus, the brand is strengthening its presence in Africa while contributing to the growing taste for refined spirits in the region.
