The member representing Umuahia North constituency in Abia State House of Assembly, Anderson Akaliro has officially written to his constituents, explaining why he resigned from the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Akaliro in the message, said he was aligning with Governor Alex Otti and his Labour Party, LP because of “visionary leadership”.
Akaliro, who was the only APC lawmaker in Abia State House of Assembly, appealed to his constituents not to see his defection as a betrayal of their mandate but to receive it as reinforcement of his loyalty to them for a brighter future.
“Throughout my stewardship, I was never invited to any official meeting or activity of the party in the state.
“Instead, recurring suspensions and counter-suspensions at the ward and local government levels confirmed the deep-rooted disunity,” he said.
He noted that his decision to join the LP was advised by his constituents, political allies and stakeholders in the Umuahia North constituency.
“I have resolved to align with the progressive, people-oriented, and visionary leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, and the Labour Party.
“This decision is not driven by personal ambition but by the collective desire to reposition Umuahia North at the center of development-driven, accountable, and people-focused governance”, Akaliro said.
